چکیده
Abstract Background oxidative stress and inflammation remain the main health problems often linked to degenerative diseases. The aim of this study was evaluate antioxidant, analgesic anti-inflammatory properties onion growth in Cameroon. Methods Aqueous extracts were produced from two varieties (Violet galmi; Goudami) quantified for their polyphenols content. Concentrations (0.1, 0.5, 1, 1.5 mg/mL) also prepared, vitro antioxidant evaluated by using standard methods. Anti-inflammatory effect assessed applying carrageenan sub plantar test Wistar rats, but acetic acid used effect. Results content activities changed significantly ( p < 0.05) with variety increased concentration. Total phenolic (range 58.03–67.43%), Reducing power 0.27–0.94%), DPPH radical scavenging 37.33–202.08%) higher Violet galmi extracts, while Ferrous ion chelating 23.15–97.42%) Goudami extract. reduce rat paw edema a dose dependent manner compared negative control group. Galmi (1.5 mg/kg) reaches 100% inhibition after 2 h whereas 3 h. In terms activity, aqueous extract exhibited characterized reduction writhes. Analgesic activity concentration has shown more efficacy than extracts. Conclusion present findings suggest that violet bulb onions have protective effects against pain.

Antioxidant and Phytobiological Studies on Two Allium Cepa L. Extracts.
AIM To investigate the antioxidant potential of two Allium cepa L. extracts. MATERIAL AND METHODS The antioxidant activity of the two extracts (encoded EC1 and EC2) was assessed using two methods: DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) scavenging capacity and determination of their reducing power; phytobiological, studies were performed using grains of Triticum aestivum L., Falmura variety. R...
متن کاملMalformin in Aspergillus niger-infected onion bulbs (Allium cepa).
Malformin was identified, by its biological activity and chromatography, in acetone extracts of the outer scales of onion bulbs infected with Aspergillus niger. Malformin was not detected in tissue underlying the infected areas or in the central portions of the bulbs, nor was malformein liberated from extracts or extracted tissues after reduction with zinc in acetic acid. This is the first repo...

The potential cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of three industrial wastewaters (brewery, rubber and bottling) in Benin metropolis using the Allium cepa test were investigated. A series of five small onion bulbs were cultivated in 0.01, 0.1, 1, and 10% of the wastewaters (v/v) and after 48 hours, one root tip from each bulb was harvested and processed for cytological studies by the aceto-orcein squ...
